Gladys Everett Obituary

Gladys Beverly Brownfield Everett, 98, died at home in Enfield after a long illness. The family is grateful to her excellent medical provider and caregivers. Born in Uniontown, PA, she lived in Enfield for 44 years. Gladys led an active life at home and work. She was a loving mother and wife, and a creative home-maker. After raising her two daughters, she obtained a legal certificate at Asnuntuck Community College and worked as a secretary at Jagenberg, Inc. She was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in East Windsor, where she played piano for Sunday School, and edited and distributed the newsletter. She enjoyed everyday activities like going to the library, sewing, gardening, petting her many kitties and socializing with close friends. She loved books, and her interests ranged from geography to history to political science to sociology. Later in life, she maintained her garden and cared for her husband in failing health. Gladys is survived by daughters Melissa Anne Everett of Enfield and Lucinda Lee Everett of Marblehead, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband Willard Everett, her brother, Frank Willis Brownfield Jr. and sister Dorothy June Arlene Brownfield Frye. Gladys remained curious to the end of her life. She proudly voted in every election.
