John B. Gelpi, 77, of Somerset, passed on July 21, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Johnstown. Born April 24, 1939 in Somerset, he is a son of the late Bernard and Martha (Beeman) Gelpi. He is also preceded in death by his wife Donna in 2002; and brother Ernest Gelpi. John is survived by his daughters Kimberly Ross and husband John of Somerset, Kathy Johnson and husband Brian of Friedens, and Karen Thomas and husband Doug of Friedens; grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Danielle, Joshua, and Shane; great-grandchildren Austin, Riley, Adaline, Adin, Jayden, Liam, Haddie, and Gavin; siblings Robert Gelpi and wife Patricia of Mesa, AZ, Richard Gelpi and wife Judith of Somerset, Bernice Barnett of Somerset, and Michael Gelpi and wife Margaret of Listie; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a longtime owner of Gelpi Masonry in Somerset. He was a member of the Somerset FOE Aerie #1801. He enjoyed golf, and was a big fan of the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. He will be greatly missed by his cat, Buster. Friends will be received from 11am until 1:30pm Saturday with a service to follow at 1:30pm at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, Father Daniel O’Neill officiating.
