Barbara Workman, 92, Moorhead, MN, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at her home, under care of Ethos Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.

Barbara Carol Ping was born September 15, 1928, in Springfield, IL, to George Clifford and Elsie Marie (Hurley) Ping.  She graduated from Auburn Illinois High School in 1945 and worked for 2 years as a secretary at Auburn High School and 3 years at Auburn Bank.  She also taught Sunday School at Auburn Christian Church.  On January 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Gary Workman and they moved to Borup, MN to farm in 1955.  Gary and Barbara ran a successful dairy operation and raised a nationally recognized Jersey dairy herd.  They retired from farming in 1992 and moved to Moorhead in 2010.

Barbara served as an Election Official for Viding Township and was a member of the Viding Township Birthday Club for many years.  She was a long-time member of Valley Christian Church in Moorhead.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gary, Moorhead, MN; children, Allyn (Karen) Workman, Lake St. Louis, MO and Debra Workman (partner Connie Pfefferkorn), Kyle, TX; sister, Joan Marie McMillan, Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Bryce Workman, Kansas City, KS, Brett Workman, Washington, MO, Matthew (Joanna) Best, Wentzville, MO and Jennifer (Andrew) Decker, Lake St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Elijah Decker, Lake St. Louis, MO and Jayden Best, Wentzville, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law, Eugene “Nub” McMillan and brothers and sisters-in-law Byron and Mary Workman, Dale and Pauline Workman, Dean and Maxine Workman, Junior and Eileen Workman, Arrah Jean and Claire Shumaker and Errol Workman.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 4:00 P.M., with visitation from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.  Masks are required and social distancing must be observed.  There will be a livestream of the service beginning at 4:00 P.M. on Barbara’s webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com, where there is also a video tribute and online guestbook.  Interment will take place Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Auburn, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Griswold Home Care of Fargo (ND)-Moorhead (MN), Ethos Hospice Care of Fargo, ND or the Arthritis/Diabetes Foundations.
