<p>The funeral service for Luella Leonard, 96, of Watertown, SD, will be at 11:00am, Friday, November 13, 2020 at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD, Pastor Keith Peterson officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Masks and social-distancing are encouraged.</p> <p>Luella passed away comfortably on Sunday November 8, 2020, at Primrose Cottages, Aberdeen, SD.</p> <p>Luella Delores Redlin was born on January 30, 1924. Luella was the youngest born, and the last living member of their large family of 15 children, 7 sisters and 8 brothers; Andrew, Edward, Leona, Alvin, Delia, Ralph, Clarence, Irene, Lorraine, Robert, Earl, Wallace, Elanor, Gladys, and Luella. The Redlin family farm was in Germantown Township near South Shore, SD. In her youth, Luella loved the farm life and throughout her life frequently talked of the incredible experiences on the family farm with her brothers and sisters. She smiled ear to ear when revisiting the farm area while telling stories of harsh winters, dustbowls and bountiful harvests.</p> <p>Luella graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1941. She then attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, and graduated with a Teacher&rsquo;s Certificate.&nbsp; After college, Luella began her career employment at the Medical Arts Building in uptown Watertown.</p> <p>Subsequently, she worked at Sperling&rsquo;s Shoes for many years before securing long term employment at J.C. Penney, a job that she enjoyed and made many friendships that lasted long after retirement.</p> <p>Luella performed and volunteered in many public service areas.&nbsp; She volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels, served on many juries and served as a voting poll worker for many years in Watertown. Additionally, Luella was a census taker.</p> <p>Luella D. Redlin and C. Lee Leonard were married January 12, 1946 in Webster, SD. During their 69 year marriage, they had 4 sons; Lyle, Loren, Jerald and Todd.</p> <p>Luella is survived by 3 sons: Loren (Linda) Leonard, Jerald (Cathy) Leonard and Todd (Donna) Leonard; 8 grandchildren with 15 great grandchildren.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, one son (Lyle), and her husband of 69 years (Lee).</p> <p>Condolences and memories may be shared, and flowers ordered at www.grammfuneralhome.com</p> <p>Cards can be mailed c/o Loren Leonard, 824 S. Luella Delores Redlin was born on January 30, 1924. Luella was the youngest born, and the last living member of their large family of 15 children, 7 sisters and 8 brothers; Andrew, Edward, Leona, Alvin, Delia, Ralph, Clarence, Irene, Lorraine, Robert, Earl, Wallace, Elanor, Gladys, and Luella.
