Dempsey Luke Calhoun, 85, of Lake Whitney, Texas and formerly from Columbus, Texas passed away on January 16, 2013 in Clifton, TX. He was born on July 13, 1927 to Dave Adair Calhoun and Gertrude (Pickett) Calhoun in Pampa, Texas.
On October 7, 1994, he married Dorothy James.
Dempsey worked as an owner/operator of cattle auctions in Texas and Oklahoma.
He was a member of Cedar Shores Baptist Church in Lake Whitney, TX.
Dempsey is survived by his wife, Dorothy Calhoun of Lake Whitney, TX; daughters, Cathy Blymyer and husband Paul of Columbus, TX, Cindi Schneider and husband Jim of Columbus, TX, and Kayley Kovar and husband Jeff of Columbus, TX; sons, Scott Calhoun and wife Susan of Waco, TX, and Cary Calhoun of Port Aransas, TX; first wife and mother of his children, Betty Gills of Columbus, TX; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dave Adair and Gertrude (Pickett) Calhoun, sister
Joy Calhoun, and brother, Dave Adair Calhoun, Jr.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Texas with Pastor J. Paul Bruhn officiating.
Private family burial was held at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.
