Darrell Lance Peterson, 51, of Columbus, Texas passed away on April 29, 2016 in Eagle Lake, TX. He was born on February 9, 1965 to Lloyd and Linda (Daniels) Willis in Crockett, TX. Darrell worked for 10 years as a correction officer for the Texas Department of Corrections, and the past 15 years as a maintenance worker at the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge in Eagle Lake, Texas. He was a member of the Grapeland Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Darrell is survived by his father, Lloyd Peterson and wife Betty of Grapeland, TX; mother, Linda Willis and husband Shotgun of Taylor, AZ; daughter, Kari Nicole Peterson of Columbus, TX; sons, William David Peterson of Columbus, TX, and Cody Lance Peterson of Columbus, TX; brothers, Kenny Peterson of Jasper, TX, Jerry Peterson of Fairfield, TX, and Kyle Peterson of Fairfield, TX; stepbrothers, Roy Weisinger of West Columbia, TX, Canyun Willis of Taylor, AZ, Trever Willis of Taylor, AZ, and John Willis of Taylor, AZ; and stepsisters, Ann Moore of Huntsville, TX, Belinda Adams of Crockett, TX, and Shannon Willis of Snowflake, AZ. He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, David Weisinger. Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm; and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, 11:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Pastor Steve Dennis officiating. Pallbearers are the Fish and Wildlife Color Guard.
