Donna Mae Skar

Donna Mae Skar, (81) the daughter of Lawrence Rieke and Emma Rieke Cooper, was born March 18, 1939, in Fargo, North Dakota. She died on Friday, November 06, 2020 in Minot, North Dakota from cardiac arrest. Donna grew up in the Rugby, North Dakota area. She met and later married Milton Lloyd Skar in the late 1950s. They traveled to and lived in several states including Minnesota, Arizona and Montana before finally settling in North Dakota. During those travels, they raised four children together. Donna and Milton were married for over 50 years until Milton’s death in 2011. Donna loved collecting “treasures” which she learned from her mother. She started with Avon dolls, then onto beanie babies, cookie jars and bears…lots of bears. Donna enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin on Lake Metigoshe. She loved taking long lake rides on the pontoon or just relaxing in a chair while watching the ducks that came to visit her. In her later years, while visiting the lake cabin, she would set off for the local casino where she was known to be lucky at the slots! Those who shared in her life are her spouse, Milton; daughters, Cheryl (Eddie) Gomez, Rancho Mirage, California, and Doreen (Tim) Schwartz, Kenmare, North Dakota; sons, Mark (Anita) Clancy, Montana, and Keith Skar, Minot, North Dakota; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Diane) Rieke, North Carolina and Ron (Madeline) Rieke, Texas and, also, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her spouse Milton, father Lawrence Rieke, mother Emma Cooper and sister Rae Marie Cooper. Anderson Funeral Home of Rugby, North Dakota will handle arrangements and private burial at Knox Lutheran Cemetery, Knox, North Dakota.
