Hobert Luther “Hob” Bowser, 88, of Accident, MD, died Saturday, November 7, 2020, at his residence. Born February 13, 1932, in Accident, he was the son of the late Luther and Mildred (Miller) Bowser. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Lynn Bowser; three brothers, Allen, Donald and infant, Walter Bowser. Mr. Bowser was a heavy equipment operator for the MD SHA for 27 years and a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Koran Conflict from 1951-1955. He was a member of the American Legion Post 208, Accident, where he served as Past Commander and Sergeant of Arms for 65+ years and the Accident Fire Department, where he served in many various positions. Hobert was a committee member to the Allegany and Garrett County Fireman’s Association; charter member of the Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad and became an EMT in 1972, the very first class, and had taken countless hours of Fire & Rescue training. He was the American Legion Vol. Fireman of the Year for the State of Maryland in 2008 and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 10077, Deer Park and of the Funeral Honor Guard. He is survived by his wife, Dortha Eileen “Dot” (Miller) Bowser; three daughters, Sharon K. (Phil) Frantz, Friendsville, MD; Diane C. (Mark) Williams, Ellerslie, MD; Terri L. (companion, Rick Broadwater) Stonesifer, Swanton, MD; one sister-in-law, Virginia Bowser, Frederick, MD; five grandchildren, Corey (companion, Kirsten) Stonesifer; Trevor (Amber) Stonesifer; Daniel Williams; Kala (fiancé, Chris Atkins) Williams; Michael (Scarlett) Frantz; seven great-grandchildren, Trenton Stonesifer, Hayden Stonesifer, David Tressler, Laila Stonesifer, Alena Stonesifer, Will Frantz and Bo Frantz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Benjamin Hertel officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by local area veteran’s organizations.
