James Barton “Jim” Miller, age 64 years, a resident of Texas Mountain Community, Parsons, WV, passed away on Sunday November 8, 2020 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV. He had been in declining health although death was unexpected. Jim passed from this life in peace and comfort, surrounded by his family. He was born Friday, April 13, 1956 at his childhood home on Texas Mountain, to the late Clair Miller and June Nestor Miller. Jim is survived by his best friend and loving wife of nearly forty five years, Debbie Miller of Texas Mountain Community, his sons, Jeff Miller and wife Colette of Hedgesville, and Travis Miller and wife Desire of Mabie; his grandchildren, Avery, Addison, Alycia, Annaliese, Jace, and Sophia; two sisters, Joy Fansler of Mackeyville and Janet Tully and husband Dick of LaGrange, KY; one brother, Jerry Miller and wife Barbara of Belington; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are one infant brother, Harry Miller; his eldest brother, Jack Miller; and one nephew, Mike Shupp. He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1974. On December 27th, 1975, he married his high school sweetheart Debbie, at the First Church of Parsons. He was a coal miner and later a carpenter by trade, and most recently a molder at Delta Cooling Towers in Philippi. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed fishing with his sons, working around his home on the farm, taking trips on his motorcycle with Debbie, and spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren and his very special canine companion, Sam. He was a very dedicated Husband, Father, Son and Brother. Jim’s request for cremation will be honored. For the consideration of safety of his friends and family due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life and legacy. In memory of Jim, the family asks that donations of soft blankets and comfort items, or monetary donations, be given to WVU Medicine Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330 or contributions be made to foundations for the research of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
