JOHN W. HENDERSON, 75, of Springfield died Thursday morning, February 5, 2004 in his residence. He was born February 21, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Herbert C. and Agnes (Rhinehart) Little. Judge Henderson graduated from Springfield High School in 1946, was a member of the Class of 1950 of The Ohio State University, and graduated from Law School in 1952. Following graduation, he was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court. He practiced law at McGrew & Labourne and then Rush, Henderson, Rush & Schmenk Law Firm. He served on the Bench of the Clark County Common Pleas Court from 1973 until his retirement in 1993. Then later served by assignment by the Supreme Court. He also served as Presiding Judge for the Miami Conservancy District, was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Clark County Bar Association, American Judges’ Association, and Men’s Republican Club. Judge Henderson was a member of Anthony Lodge No. 455 Free and Accepted Masons, Antioch Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S., and Springfield Shrine Club. He was also a member of Springfield Rotary Club, Young Men’s Literary Club, Springfield Museum of Art and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge No. 51 and served as Docent at the Heritage Center of Clark County. Judge Henderson was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where he had served as Senior Warden, Junior Warden and Vestry Member. He was a founding member of Northwood Hills Country Club and a member of Springfield Country Club. His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy (Wear) Henderson; three children and their families, John and Sherry Henderson of Cape Coral, Florida; Scott and Mary Henderson of Lexington, Kentucky; and Elizabeth and Dr. Rusty Smith of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Sjanna and Jason Henderson, Elizabeth Madison and David Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dain Kuhns of Naples, Florida; and nephews, John and Stephen Kuhns, nephew and families Charles Henderson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and nieces, Nancy and husband Karl Bliese, Carol and husband James Wanke of Bakersfield, California, Peggy and Gary Luster of Springfield, Illinois. His parents; two sons, David and Gary Henderson; and brother, Herbert Henderson preceded him in death. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, SPRINGFIELD Friday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial services will be held in Christ Episcopal Church, 409 East High Street, Springfield Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rector Charlotte Reed officiating. Private committal services will be held in Ferncliff Cemetery.
