Born July 19, 1945 in Coos Bay, OR; passed peacefully on the morning of November 5th, 2020 in Milwaukie, OR.

 

John grew up in Southeast Portland and graduated from Franklin High School in 1963 then immediately enlisted in the Army.  After his discharge at age 23, he worked as a banker for Wells Fargo (formerly, First National Bank and First Interstate Bank) until his retirement in 2001.

 

He was married to his loving spouse, May Kenny (Morgan) in 1970 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie.  They lived happily for 50 years mostly in Milwaukie.

 

John is survived his wife; his sisters, Sue Proulx (Mike) and Kay Kenny-Clark (Steve); his children, Matthew Kenny and Kelly Thornburg; his son-in-law, Jeff Thornburg; his grandchildren, Brock Thornburg and Cameron Thornburg; and his sisters-in-law, Brigitte Kenny and Kay Kenny.

 

John was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Rita Kenny; and brothers, Mike (2012) and Tom (2018).

 

At John's request there will be no service.  Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR.

 

John had a big heart and an Irish gift to make us smile and laugh.  Please smile when you remember him.
