<p>Reverend Clifford H. Field, Jr</p> <p> </p> <p>Reverend Clifford H. Field, Jr, 89, of Essex Junction, a retired United Methodist minister, entered into rest on Sun., November 1st, 2020 at home. Son of the late Clifford H. Field, Sr and Rose (Mauritz) Field Mead, he was born on February 1, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT. </p> <p> </p> <p>Cliff attended public schools in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College and Drew University Seminary. He served churches in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in West Granby, CT, Westhampton Beach, NY, Springdale, CT and Shelton, CT and served several interim pastorates in VT during his retirement. He served as the Conference secretary for 7 years, as the chair of the Conference Pension Board, and on many Conference committees. A good deal of his life revolved around involvement in the Conference Camping program, including as a volunteer counselor, program director, and chair of the Camping committee over the course of many years, as well as leading many youth retreats to the various camps. </p> <p> </p> <p>In addition to enjoying time with his family and friends, Cliff was an avid stamp collector and loved to take friends and family for a sail in his Sunfish on Lake Champlain. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren of whom he was very proud. </p> <p> </p> <p>He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois (Fancher) Field; his children Karen and husband, Jonathan Brown, Robert and wife, Stephanie Field, and Eric and wife, Carolyn Field, as well as his grandchildren: Amy & Geoffrey Brown, Jason & Kathryn Field, and Haley & Amanda Field. He is also survived by his sister, Cora and husband Richard Innes, 3 sister-in-laws, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. </p> <p> </p> <p>A memorial service will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the New York Annual Conference Camping Program Scholarship Fund, Parkinson’s Foundation, or a charity of your choice.</p> <p> </p> <p>A special thank you goes to the many caregivers from Home Care Assistance who helped Cliff over the years, and the home hospice nurses from Visiting Nurse Association who made his final days more comfortable.</p>Obituary
