Douglas Charles Dobbin Obituary

Douglas Charles Dobbin age 79 of Ivey’s Terrace, Trenton formerly of New Glasgow and New Town passed away on November 5, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Charles and Vera (Jewers) Dobbin. Doug Grew up in New Town Guysborough County. He worked a number of jobs in his younger years but later went to work for the Pictou County Planning Commission for some 30 years from where retired. Doug also owned and operated Doug’s Firewood for many years, delivering firewood throughout Pictou County. He was also a member of the Bombers Club in New Glasgow. He is survived by his children Georgina (Brian) Simpson, New Glasgow; Craig Dobbin (Kelly), Trenton; grandchildren Tyler, Jenna, Hanna, and Nate, great-grandson Cash Douglas; sisters Diane (Bill) Olsen, Kentville; Lorraine MacDonald, Lochaber; Louise (John) Harpell, Alberta; Barb (Victor) Newcombe, Kentville; brother Victor (Vickie) Dobbin, Abercrombie; and Ed Dobbin, Trenton. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Patton) and a brother Gary. Cremation has taken place there will be no visitation or service at this time. Burial will take place at a later date in Valley View Cemetery, East River St. Mary’s. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
