Our dad, grandpa, friend, Kenneth Eugene Leaf died November 2, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dad was born January 7, 1933 in Kingsburg, CA. Dad’s parents were Henning and Julia (Larson). Dad met our mom Gwendolyn Pelletier, and they married October 27, 1956.
Dad graduated from Kingsburg high school, He then joined the military and was a radio operator for the United States Army. He was loaned to the Air force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged. Dad continued his education at Salt Lake Technology School with a degree in drafting. Dad loved the Drafting part of the degree not the behind the desk part.
Dad worked and retired from Salt Lake City Corporation after 30 years of employment. He drove garbage trucks, long nights and days snow plowing street during the winter, street repair. He loved his job but not the politics.
Dad loved camping and fishing. Whether it was shore, still fishing or trolling the lake, fishing was his sport of choice. Eventually, he and Gwen were sun chasers or mountain dwellers. Their favorite Utah camping site was Washington Lake, Utah.
Dad was preceded in death by his father, mother and Gwendolyn. Dad had 8 children Michele (Norman), Robert (Tamanica), Yvonne (Kenneth), Richard (Sherrie), James (Nancy), Erin (Arthur), Brian (Janice) and Bruce. We, his children produced 24 Grandkids and 20 Great grandkids.
Special thank you to the friends he made at Sagewood. Julie, you were my dad’s best bud, and he knew he could count on you. Jeanne for the off colored jokes. Austin and Wade for being patient. Thanks to Bernie for being the best friend/waitress ever. Dad loved and worried about you. The family will be having a private memorial Friday November 13, 2020 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapels.
