Ellen E. "Betty" Baker

Ellen E. “Betty” Baker, 97, of Parsons, died at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul. She was born in Parsons on August 19, 1923, to Robert Shea Sr and Margaret Elizabeth (Rouch) Shea. She grew up in Parsons, attending St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduating from Parsons High School. She attended Parsons Junior College. Betty and Edwin K. Baker were married in Parsons on January 27, 1941. They lived in Pomona, California briefly and moved to Oklahoma City in 1947. Edwin preceded her in death on September 27, 2000 and she returned to Parsons. For many years she was employed as an inventory management specialist at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. She was of the Catholic faith. In her earlier years she loved tennis and bowling. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren. Surviving are her son, Ron Baker and wife Janice; grandchildren Tina Pugh, Halee Fuentez, Trisha Butler, Jamie Shaw and Jeremy Lett; several great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and sister-in-law Marietta Shea of Parsons. Preceding her in death was her husband, two brothers, Robert Shea, Jr and John Shea; a grandson and a great-great granddaughter. The service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio, with Rev. Curtis Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Section. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning. Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
