Craig H Wellesley Obituary

Craig H. Wellesley, 70, of Pleasant Grove, was reunited with his loving parents George and Edna (Chub and Eddie) Wellesley, brother Chad, grandson Bryson and extended family in Heaven, the afternoon of November 2nd, 2020. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Cynthia; their children Duncan, Durin and Shasta of Pleasant Grove and grandchildren Chad, Sierra, Alia, Hayden, Wylie and Wyatt; his sister, Kris Bunnell (Bret) of Springville and numerous friends and family.

Craig skied his whole life. He was a member of the Sundance ski team, racing in downhill and slalom. He won a ski scholarship to the College of the Siskiyous, in Weed, California racing on the Mt. Shasta ski circuit.

As a master mechanic at Union Pacific Railroad for over 25 years, Craig made many life-long friends, who will always remember and cherish the time they spent with him. He was a prankster, whose sneaky, well-planned pranks enlivened the lives of his co-workers - and were thus remembered far into the future.

Craig was a talented “rocker” and air guitar player whose New Year’s Eve “concerts” were highly anticipated by his adoring family audience of energetic “fans.”

An avid reader, Craig loved the Lord of the Rings, anything by Stephen King and books on lost mines and hidden treasures. Always on the lookout for the “X” that marks the spot, forgotten symbols or mysterious carvings leading to hidden riches, He sought his fortune by panning for gold and collecting rocks to add to his massive collection - from every location he visited.

Hunting and camping were passions of Craig’s and cherished times for everyone. A lover of the outdoors - whether the highest mountains or the desert, he was always on the lookout for new areas to explore. He looked forward to vacationing on the Oregon Coast every year. Wild and free, the ocean was the magic which drew the family together. Craig was an adventurous soul. We feel certain he is off on another amazing adventure.

Throughout his life he was a steadfast, unconditional supporter of his family. We miss him so much! He is forever in our hearts and our hearts are forever in his.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 1:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Provo, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
