DuValle Wayne Elliott, Sr.

SUMMERTON – DuValle Wayne Elliott, Sr., 80, husband of Joyce Elaine King Elliott, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at his home after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. Born October 1, 1940, in Sumter, he was a son of the late DuValle Cleveland Elliott and the late Adelaide Sieling Elliott. He was a life-long member of St. Matthias Church where he served there in many different roles throughout his life including Senior Warden, Acolyte, Lay Eucharist Minister, Lay Reader, Choir member, Chairman of the Building Committee, and a member of the Vestry. He is survived by his wife of Summerton; a son, DuValle W. Elliott, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Stateburg; a daughter, Joni Elliott Kane (Tim) of Bracey, VA; eight grandchildren, Emma and Jacob Cokely, DuValle Lucas Elliott, Eliza Elliott, Ethan Elliott and Palmer Elliott, Joe Kane and Whit Kane; a brother, Gerard Sieling Elliott of Montgomery, AL; three sisters, Trudie Elliott Flowers (Roger) of Summerton, Libby McLeod (Wade) of Paxville and Pattie McKinney (Ron) of Myrtle Beach; and many nieces and nephews. DuValle loved spending time with his family. One of his passions was fishing and hunting. It brought him great joy to share these hobbies with his children and grandchildren. It made his day to see one of his grandchildren “hook a big one”. His first priority in life was getting to know Jesus Christ and making Him known. He experienced great fulfillment seeing his children and grandchildren live out their strong faith and their love for the Lord. Truly, the gift of faith has been passed down to future generations by “Pop Pop” who DuValle was affectionally known by his family (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). Along with serving at St Matthias Church, DuValle also served the community as a land surveyor for over 30 years. He volunteered many hours coaching youth in baseball and basketball through Little League and at Clarendon Hall Academy in Summerton. He had a gift of loving each player as his own son or daughter. Due to COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at St. Matthias Church.
