Joshua Ray Gilson, 37, of Leavenworth, died by homicide, Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at his home. He was born Aug. 17, 1983, in Atwater, Calif., the son of Danny and Judith (Unruh) Gilson. He graduated from Liberty Baptist Academy in Rapid City, S.D. Joshua is survived by his parents; a son, Elijah Gilson; two daughters, Isabella and Lili Gilson all of Leavenworth; two brothers, Danny Gilson Jr. of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Nathan Gilson of Warrensburg, Mo.; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delbert and Carolyn Unruh. Joshua enjoyed playing violin at church. He also loved cars, playing chess and computers. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery. Memorials are requested to go to Joshua’s parents, Dan and Judy Gilson.
