James "Jim" Cameron Obituary

Jim Cameron died Thursday, October 29, 2020 from complications of a stroke.  He was surrounded by his wife, Barbara, of 61 years and his five children.

Jim was born in Yakima, WA in 1938, and moved to Portland, OR in 1942, with his parents, Wilma and Ted Cameron and older brother, Joe.  He met his wife, Barbara, at age 14 at Franklin HS in Portland and they married in 1959, celebrating 61 years together.

He graduated in 1966 from PSU, worked in financial management with First National Bank, and was a realtor with Century 21 before owning his own business, J. Cameron Transport; moving trucks across the country for PP&L.  He had a work ethic that never left him, whether at his job or in his garden, and passed that trait on to his children.

Jim was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie, OR for 56 years, alumni parent and grandparent for La Salle Prep in Milwaukie, proud member of Franklin HS's class of 1956, but most proud to be a member of "The Group", an unbreakable bond of friends, founded in 1970.  He was fiercely loyal to family, friends, and his garden.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; their five children, Joe (Pam), Dedie (Renny), Deborah (Mark), Ted (Becky), and Chris (Janelle); 14 grandchildren, Cameron (Contessa), Ian, Lauren, Grant, Cole, Jack, Laurel, Isobel, Georgia, Lexa, Brooke, Jade, Lucy, and Hudson; three great-grandchildren, Zion, Luca and Cade; cousin, Donna Kay Molenaar (Jan), sister-in-law, Linda Peters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the charities that Jim supported:
