Peter J. Burkhardt, 79, of Hamilton Square, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Penn Medicine at Plainsboro.
Born in New York City, NY, Peter was a lifelong area resident. He was an honorably discharged veteran having served in the United States Navy. Peter was employed with the State of New Jersey, Treasury Division of Pensions and Benefits where he retired after many years of service. Peter was a member of St. Gregory the Great RC Church and in his spare time, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren at his home away from home in LBI.
Predeceased by his parents, John Christopher and Pauline (Sapeta) Burkhardt; he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth (Nutt) Burkhardt; his children and their spouses, Peter and Diane Burkhardt, Terri and Eric Kent, John and Rusti Burkhardt, Christopher Burkhardt and Maria and Kevin Jackowsky; his grandchildren, Lindsay and Dave Smith, Elizabeth and Mike Fausti, Brandon and Amy Kent, Josh Kent, Samuel and Augie Burkhardt and Max and Ava Jackowsky; his great-grandchildren, Jackson and Austin Smith and Angelo Fausti; his brother and his wife, Paul and Laurie Buhkhardt, of Las Vegas; his nieces and nephews; and his great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
Due to funeral restrictions, the staff at the Saul Colonial Home, respectfully requests that all funeral attendees please wear a face covering of some kind during the services for Peter. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your understanding.
