Obituary
Donald E. “Don” Fields, 88, of Parsons, Monday, November 2, 2020, at Freeman Health System in Joplin. He was born November 10, 1931, Huron, Indiana to William L. and Edna L. (King) Fields. Don grew up at Houston, Texas, and Denver, Colorado graduating from high school in Denver. He attended the University of Houston. Don served in the United States Army for two years and enjoyed visiting with Henry and Martha Gatewood at VFW meetings. Don moved to Reno, Nevada where he owned and operated a vending machine business. He moved to Parsons in 1998. He enjoyed a variety of interests in including woodworking, volunteering, chess, playing pool, going to the Parsons Arboretum, bowling, going to the senior center, and working as a full-time volunteer at Hair Productions. Don was a man of many talents and interests and will be missed by those who loved and knew him. He was a member of the Foursquare Church of Parsons. Don is survived by his friends and caregivers, Doug and Vickie Rike of Parsons, and Jane Parish of Parsons. He was preceded in death by his companion of 47 years, Faye Rose Bradley; six brothers; and three sisters. Celebration Of Life Services will be held at 12 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the Foursquare Church in Parsons following the worship service with Pastor Steve Schulze officiating. A reception for friends will follow in the church after the service.
