Melba Merlene Lyster Smith Center, Kansas Obituary

Melba Merlene Lyster

Melba Merlene Sears Lyster was born in Larned, KS, June 12, 1919 and passed away at the age of 101, November 2, 2020, in Beloit, KS. Melba lived most of her life in Kansas, near some of her grown children and grandchildren. She lived in her home in Beloit until the last week of her life. She was the second child of Merle McKinley Sears and Eva Gertrude Hutson Sears. She herself was 2 of 12, and she also had twelve children of her own. Surviving her are 7 of her children, Glenda Buster, George Jones (Elizabeth), Michael McGuin (Donna), Mary Mott, Micki McGuin, Bruce Werner, Anna Smith; one brother A. Keith Sears (Betty) of Smith Center, KS; Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Melba loved to sew and made most all of her own clothing. She sewed by hand and also knitted well into her 90's. She loved dolls, and had even learned how to repair them. She loved music and could play the harmonica, keyboard, and piano. She loved family and enjoyed telling stories of her childhood. Melba excelled in crafts and cooking too, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was a faithful supporter of CBN. She was a member of Beloit New Life Christian Center for many years. When it became difficult for her to get out routinely, she enjoyed even more watching The 700 Club. She was an avid reader. She made sure that she got her Bible chapters read daily along with various Devotionals. She was a true giver and was generous with her favorite Christian charities. One of her main joys in life was being able to give what she could to those in need, no matter who they were. She was a sweet lady who loved to give and receive, and she really loved ice cream! Melba will be missed by family and friends. Knowing she is now with the Lord Jesus, whom she loved, is great comfort for all.
