Herbert Randolph Davis Mattapan, Massachusetts Obituary

Herbert Randolph Davis

Herbert Randolph Davis, A.K.A. Randy, was born in Boston, MA on June 27, 1959 to the late Angie Davis (deceased) and Johnnie Davis (deceased). He was the youngest of six siblings, and grew up on Winthop St. in Roxbury, MA. As a young man, you would find him at the Boys & Girls Club or helping someone in need. He never wanted to work for anyone else and was very adamant about being a business owner at a very young age. He knew that he wanted to own a lot of properties so he carried around a lot of keys and say that it was because he was going to own a lot of properties someday, and he did both! Although he stumbled upon many business ventures, he set his sights on the restaurant industry and never looked back. If you are not a member of the family, you probably know him because he served you some of the best fried chicken you ever had, and more.

As a man on the rise, he was always very generous to those around him! He loved to see people win and assisted by employing and mentoring others to help them accomplish their dreams. He sponsored youth sports teams in the community so that the youth could have activities to look forward to and stay out of trouble. He was also the Head of the Taskforce in his building. He fought to help those that had been counted out and reminded them of reasons to live through his advocacy and dedication. He was never selfish and always gave what he could to those around him, especially his family. He loved his family so much and would do anything in his power to make them happy, primarily his children!

Randy had five children and loved them with all of his heart. If you ever met him, you knew about them because he could usually be heard telling anyone that would listen how proud he was of them. Each one of them held a special place in his heart and he’d always find a way to ensure he helped them in any area of their life that he could. Each one of them was a “star” in his life and made him proud. His legacy will live on within them.

The other star in his life was his amazing wife! Although they were together for many years, Randy married the love of his life, Dedrea on September 2, 2000. She was by his side through sickness and health, and both good and challenging times. She supported all of his endeavors and loved him until his last breath.

If you knew him, then you knew he had an amazing heart. He always showed love and generosity to his friends, family, community, and even strangers… all you had to do was ask. He influenced so many people and helped to make their dreams come true. He was an amazing man and will truly be missed.

Randy leaves to mourn his loving wife Dedrea Davis and four children Tyrone Davis, Dorothy Whitley, Anthony Bly and Janell Davis, who he leaves to carry on his legacy. Obituary

Randy proudly wore the title of Granddaddy or “Papa” to 13 grandchildren: Avonie, Zhakhari, Lola, Kassayana, Amir T., Mariah A., Tyrone, Jr. Ny’Ari, Legend, Mariah T., Amir K., Aniy’Lah and Tyquese. He also leaves to mourn three siblings Nathaniel Davis, Jack Davis and Carl Davis of Boston, Massachusetts and loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and dear friends. His son Thomas, granddaughter Zhahara, brother Terry, sister Mattie, and both parents predeceased him.
