Nancy Panico Obituary

Nancy Panico, nee Bevente, age 94, beloved wife of the late Cuono Panico; loving mother of Pasqualina (Gerard) Dobkowski, Cuono Richard (Kristy) Panico, and Rosemarie (Glen Marino) Panico-Marino; cherished grandmother of Kenneth R. (Lisa) Truty, Annamarie Marino, Colleen (Noel) Lagneaux, and Kathleen Kutmas; dear great-grandmother of Jackson, Kolin, and Mia Truty, and Carrson Lagneaux; dearest sister of Gennaro (Francesca) Bevente, Mary (Aniello) Auriemma, Madelyn (the late Anthony) Scrima and the late Luigi (the late Theresa) Bevente; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews was welcomed into the loving arms of God and her most venerated Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Pompeii on November 2, 2020. Nancy immigrated to the United States in 1949 with her eldest daughter, Pasqualina (Pat) where she joined her husband Cuono who immigrated here a year earlier. Together, they raised a family; first in Little Italy on Chicago’s near west side and later the Southwest Side. While most known for her impeccable seamstress abilities, designing and sewing beautiful women’s outfits, from wedding dresses to casual wear, Nancy also worked as a line worker at several companies, until retiring from Nabisco. Nancy was meticulous in all her work, with a passion for pursuing perfection. In addition to working full-time and making what seemed an endless stream of seamstress projects, she was an ardent and wonderful cook and impeccable housekeeper. You could not find a cleaner and more organized house than the Panico household! Nancy was a very proud and hard-working mom, with a strong devotion to the Our Blessed Mother - Our Lady of Pompeii, her husband, and children. She lived her life fully and passionately and will be deeply missed by her children and others who will be forever influenced by her “no excuses” approach to life. Visitation Saturday, November 7th, 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St. (1 blk. So. of Ogden) Downers Grove. Funeral Mass to follow on Saturday, 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, 4801 Main St. Downers Grove, IL. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, www.ourladyofpompeii.org, are appreciated. The Funeral Home and Church will be following local government restrictions, limiting the number of people to 25 entering the building. For the safety and comfort of others, please pay your respects in a timely manner. Arrangements by Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan. 630-968-1000 or www.adamswinterfieldsullivan.com
