Roger L. Pacos

Roger L. Pacos of Fredonia, NY went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 1, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on January 15, 1964 to Eleanore (Kuczenski) Pacos and the late Leo A. Pacos, Sr. He was 56 years old. He attended Fredonia Catholic School and was a 1982 graduate of Fredonia High School. He graduated from Buffalo State University with a degree in Technology Education. Roger was a Graduate Assistant at Bowling Green State University where he obtained his master’s degree in Technology Education. Roger worked for Robert and Mary Lesch at Fredonia Hardware as well as the Fountain Grill during his high school and college years. Upon graduating from Bowling Green State University, Roger accepted a position with General Dynamics working at the Detroit M-1 Abrams tank plant. Roger’s mentor Richard Dawes called him back home to become a Technology Education Teacher at his alma mater, Fredonia High School. He taught many students in both Technology as well as Driver’s Education over his 30 year career, until he retired in 2019. An avid bowler, he was a Junior Bowling Coach at Lucky Lanes in Fredonia and was a past FHS Bowling Team Coach. He was currently employed by the Northern Chautauqua Catholic School and by Service Hardware. Roger held various positions with the Village of Fredonia - in the Parks and Recreation Department and was a former volunteer for the Fredonia Fire Department. His desire to serve the community he loved continued when he was elected to a Village of Fredonia Trustee position in 2020. In addition, Roger was Treasurer of the First Ward Falcon Club and on the Parish Council of Holy Trinity Church, both in Dunkirk, NY. He was a past president of the Fredonia Teachers' Association and the Instruction al Leader for the Fredonia High School Career Preparation Department for many years. He was a member of Epsilon Phi Tau (an international honorary fraternity for studies in technology), a founding member of The Technology Student Association at Buffalo State University, and a member of several local social clubs. Roger loved woodworking and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone working on a project. He loved the Buffalo Bills, and he and his son Bryson were season ticket holders for the Buffalo Bandits. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son Bryson Pacos of Dunkirk, siblings Mary Benner of Dunkirk, Leo A. Pacos, Jr. of Fredonia, Susan (Thomas) Zanghi of Cassadaga, Nancie (Gary) Hermann of Nokomis, Fla., Daniel (Kimberly) Pacos of Fredonia, and Gary (Laura) Pacos of Depew, NY. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Adam (Robynn) Benner, Jason (Elisha) Benner, Robert and Jennifer Zanghi, Mackenzie (Scott) Szopinski, Collin Schanzlin, Kevin, Marc and Aaron Pacos, and Brian and Maria Pacos. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his father, Roger was predeceased by his brother Brian J. Pacos. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave, Fredonia, NY on Thursday, November 5 from 7-9 and Friday November 6 from 2-4 and 7-9. COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Face masks will be required along with six feet social distancing. Attendance will be restricted, so be prepared for delays. A private funeral Mass for family members will be celebrated at Holy Trinity RC Church. Interment will be at the Webster Road Cemetery, Fredonia, NY.
