Charles William Hodgkinson, Jr.

<p>Charles William Hodgkinson, Jr., 84, of McAlpin, passed away on Friday evening, October 30, 2020 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born in West Haven, CT on August 13, 1936 to the late Charles William, Sr. and Doloris Ramsey Hodgkinson. He has made McAlpin his home since 1993, moving here from Connecticut. He was a truck driver and was of the Catholic faith. He also served his country in the United States Marines in the 1950s. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, loved reading westerns and mysteries; and loved racing and watching NASCAR. He was also a good mechanic, and enjoyed a good debate. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia McGrew and his brother, Richard Hodgkinson.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He is survived by his partner of 24 years, Nancy Conway of McAlpin; son, William Hodgkinson of Oregon; daughters, Diane M. Johnson (Kevin) of Lake City, Terese Soules (Donald) of New York, Carla Dingman (Homer) of Oklahoma and Joanne Shove (Brad) of New York. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Per Mr. Hodgkinson&rsquo;s wishes, no services will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.</p>
