Bradley Lance Thompson Obituary

Bradley Lance Thompson passed on Friday, October 30th, 2020 at the age of 58. He fought a brave battle with bladder cancer since his diagnosis in January of 2018. He was born on August 6, 1962 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Brad was the fourth child born to Dematrice and Enos Thompson of Michigan. Brad was a student of Michigan State University. He was able to do anything he put his mind to and was blessed to have had amazing jobs throughout his career, like Keebler, The Rapid, Devos Place, the Ada Post Office, and lastly Peckham. He loved God and the Adventist ministry; he was an active member of the Bethel SDA church and served as Head Elder until his passing. He would often pull up hymnals on his phone and sing them throughout the day. He spoke his mind often and when it came to bible scriptures, he always enjoyed discussing the word of God. His ability to retain and process information was astounding. Although he spent most of his life in Grand Rapids, Brad also lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, South Haven, Michigan, Houston, Texas, and San Luis Obispo, California. His favorite place to visit was Chicago, Illinois. His hobbies included stargazing, all things airplanes, the latest tech gadgets, music, and sports. He lived life to the fullest every chance he got, and did it with style. Brad was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Maynard “Eric” Thompson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Harriette; loving daughters, Adrienne (Damascus) Mosley of MI., and Angela (D’Vaun) Wells of CO; loving siblings, Valerie Thompson and Averill Thompson of MI., Charles (Gina) Thompson and Terence (Tracy) Thompson of Florida; three grandchildren: Ariana & Tatiana Mosley and Demetri Wells; sister-in-law, Shiron Thompson of MI.; beloved brother-in-law, Sam Howard of MI., and close childhood friends, Jahan Spearman of MI., and Greg Spearman of NC. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, relatives and friends may greet the family from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will follow. Both will take place, at Ofield Funeral Home at 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, Michigan, 49508. Due to Covid-19, seating for the service is limited and masks are required for entry (extras are available at Ofield). The family would like to thank Spectrum Health Cancer Center for their compassionate care during Brad’s illness. We would like to thank Faith Hospice for making him comfortable at home during his brief time with them. We are also thankful to Simply Cremation/Ofield Funeral Home for their after-life care and services. For those who continue to reach out to the family with prayers, flowers, cards and gifts, we are grateful for your kindness which is not taken for granted.
