Phyllis L Peters Obituary

Phyllis L. Peters passed away on October 29, 2020, at home, surrounded by her family. Phyllis

was born December 3, 1933, in Spokane, WA, to Ray and Ruth (Sharp) Burch. She was the third

of seven sisters. The family moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1943. Phyllis grew up and attended

school at Coeur d’Alene High School. She married Bill Gray on October 20, 1949, and they had

five sons. She was a dedicated mother of her children, spending numerous years as a cub scout

den mother and swim teacher. She enjoyed camping, especially time spent with the family up

Skookum Creek. She always enjoyed hosting birthdays and holidays for the family.

Rosauers was her first out of the house job, followed by being a clerk for the courthouse. She

spent time working at North Idaho College and many years at Potlatch. She finished her career

and the rest of her years as an antique dealer, including operating various antique shops.

Following the loss of her first husband, Phyllis married Don Peters on August 1, 1982, and they

continued her love of antiques at their home in Nine Mile Falls, WA. Together they moved to

Burke, Idaho, and spent the rest of their lives together with the Silver Valley as their home. She

loved the people of the area and spent many years volunteering for various causes. Her

greatest joy was spending time with and helping raise her grandchildren. This joy only increased

when great-grandchildren began to fill her home.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husbands, both parents, five sisters: June, Donna, Dianne,

Kaye, and Raye. Sadly, three of her sons, Steve, Charlie, and Billy, and one grandson, Brian.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Ruth Carole Hayman and two brother-in-laws Chuck Carlson and Scottie Peters, two sons, John and Matt Gray, Jean

Lindsey, and Nita Hagen. Also, six grandchildren, Jeremy Hagen, Misty Gruber, Camas Lindsey,

Brandi Gray, Katy Cruthirds, Wyatt Gray, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-

grandchildren. Additionally, numerous loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Loving Care and More and Hospice of North Idaho for their

extraordinary compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can remember Phyllis

with a donation to Hospice of North Idaho at 2290 West Prairie Avenue, Coeur d' Alene, ID

83815, or a charity of your choice.

A private family service will be held with a larger celebration of life to follow later.
