Lloyd E. Boyd Obituary

Lloyd Boyd, 89, of Orient, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the Faulkton Senior Living. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton, with Pastor LeShea Avery presiding. Burial will take place in the Ida Cemetery, Munden, KS, at a later date. Lloyd Erroll Boyd was born September 25, 1930 in Munden, KS to Cecil and Rose (Vizner) Boyd. He attended Rose Creek Country School, Munden Public School, and graduated from Belleville High School in 1947. Lloyd farmed with his mother outside of Munden, KS until 1957, when she married a man from Orient, SD where they relocated to. In 1952 Lloyd married Naoma Cromwell. The family moved to Orient, SD in 1961 where Lloyd went to work for Henry Weisner at Weisner Implement. He purchased the business from Henry in 1963 changing the name to Boyd Implement. In 1970 they acquired a Federal Firearms License, adding this service to the implement. He ran Boyd Implement alongside his son Cecil until 2010. Due to an injury he entered the Faulkton Senior Living in 2017. Lloyd and Naoma were divorced in 1963. He loved spending time shooting trap at the range, collecting guns, and racing late model stock car #26 in Miller, Huron, Aberdeen, Pierre, and Belleville, KS. He also shot pool with the Orient Bar. Lloyd served as the Orient Fire Chief starting in 1966 and held this position for 30 years, retiring in 1984, he also served on the Faulk County Board for 15 years and was mayor of Orient for 30+ years. In 1969, Lloyd married Bonnie Ehrich Ward. He gained two daughters, Deanna and Samanntha Ward. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons: Cecil of Orient, and Galen of Black Hawk; daughters: Deanna (Delmar) Schaefers of Anchorage, AK, and Samanntha (Doug) Pugh of Chancellor; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Connie Stewart of Abilene, KS and Sandy (Perry) Schmidt of Redfield; brother-in-law, Allen (Debbie) Ehrich of Tower, MN; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren: Tobias Schaefers, Kathryn Pugh, and Baby Boy Boyd. Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Lloyd's arrangements.
