Carl L. Barnett, 68, of Colby, died Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Via Christi St. Francis, in Wichita, KS. He was born February 4, 1952, in Colby, to Floyd and Mildred (Hawkins) Barnett. Carl graduated from Golden Plains High School in 1970. On August 22, 1971 he married Betty Ann Dible, in Rexford, KS. Carl joined the National Guard in 1972 and served for 6 years. He was a farmer, had cattle and calves. Carl enjoyed having a school bus route and driving the activity bus for Golden Plains. He drove the bus for 39 years. He was a member of the Rexford American Legion. Carl enjoyed fishing, golfing, cards and his morning coffee group. He was an avid Wisconsin Badgers basketball fan. Carl loved bus trips and traveling, especially to his grandchildren’s activities, which he never missed. Carl was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Colby; children, Jay (Kimberly) Barnett, of Colby and Jill (Scott) Ptacek, of Garden City, KS and grandchildren, Taylor and Brianna Barnett and Brooke and Chloe Ptacek. Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, KS. Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Rexford Community Church, Rexford, KS, with burial in the Rexford Cemetery.
