Allan Francis Trudeau Sr. passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2020 surrounded by family after complications from lung cancer.

Known by his friends as Al, he resided in Lake Wylie, SC since September 2007.

 Al was born in Norwich, Connecticut to the late John Arthur Trudeau Sr. and late Viola Marie Trudeau (Jarvis).  He attended Norwich Free Academy (high school) where he excelled in the Fine Arts curriculum, earning a scholarship for his ability in art.  

Al joined the Navy right out of high school, earning the rank of FTM3 (E4) where he served on the USS Hazelwood (DD531) and the USS Galveston (CLG3) as a fire control technician.  He served in the Navy for four years and then was released from active duty and transferred to Naval Reserve in April 1964.  

After the Navy Al held several positions working on military equipment for Pratt & Whitney, General Dynamics (Electric Boat Division), and Hughes Aircraft.  Al was proficient at troubleshooting fire control systems on nuclear submarines, and spent much of his career traveling to Navy bases to troubleshoot and repair electronic systems.  Al ended his career working for AT&T as an electronic technician.  Al never missed one day of work at any of the companies he worked.

Al’s interests included astronomy, stained glass,and reading nonfiction books.  He repaired antique clocks, was a die-hard NY Yankees fan and enjoyed craft beers. He volunteered at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont, NC.  He was a devoted husband, great father, brother,uncle, and grandfather.  His family and friends were very important to him.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Trudeau; his mother, Viola Trudeau; his brother, John Trudeau Jr.; and sister, Jeanne Coady.

Al is survived by his wife, Patricia Trudeau of Lake Wylie, SC; his son, Allan Trudeau Jr, of Norwich, CT; his daughter, Amber Trudeau of Lake Wylie, SC; his sister, Valerie Martin of Griswold, CT; grandsons, Derek and Ryan; granddaughters, Arianna and Sophia.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family.  

Al’s remains have been cremated and will be retained by the family.

The family would like extend their sincere appreciation to the hospice staff for the supportive care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
