Robert C. Newton, 75, of Dover passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 in the Country Club Retirement Community. Born on March 7, 1945 in Dover he was a son of the late Robert and Della Boyd Newton. Robert retired in 2017 from Kent State University Tuscarawas after more than 35 years as an Art History Professor. In 2014 he was awarded the Tuscarawas County University Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching. He also attended Bisel United Methodist Church, Dover. Robert is survived by his wife, Betty Watson Newton whom he married on May 21, 1985; sons, David Newton of Columbus, Derk (Katherine) Newton of Dennison; sister, Karlie King of Columbus; grandchildren, Zoe Newton-Rummell and Gwen Rummell. Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There are no services or calling hours.
