Elizabeth G. Peterman passed away at her home in Waldwick, NJ on the morning of October 31, 2020. She was 94 years old. Born on February 23, 1926 to Ralph and Mae Garrison, Beth grew up in New Rochelle, NY. Beth married her “knight in shining armor”, Howard Peterman, in January 1950. They settled in Waldwick in 1954 and raised four children, Bob, Sue, Debbie and Joanne. With a degree in nursing from Adelphi University, Beth took a job at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. She retired after more than 30 years of service in 1994. It was through nursing that Beth found her true purpose in life - to serve others. Long after her retirement she continued to offer love and support to friends, neighbors and former co-workers in need. Beth believed that a person’s value is measured by what you give rather than what you receive. She will always be remembered for her gentle, loving spirit, her commitment to doing the right thing and her love of family. Beth and Howard loved to travel up and down the east coast and spent many years vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine. Their marriage lasted 70 years, until Howard’s passing in April 2020. Beth is survived by her children, Bob Peterman and his wife Dawn, Sue Gallagher and her husband Jerry, Debbie Peterman and Joanne Becker and her husband Kevin; grandchildren Brianne, Cailin, Becky, Melissa, Rob, Kristine, Amy, Kevin Jr. and Erik and great grandchildren, Ben, Presley, Becker, Ryan, Tommy and Remy. Also survived by her beloved siblings, Marilyn Quesenberry and her husband Pete, Jim Garrison and his wife, Julia, and cousin Anne Silo and her husband Bill. Beth was predeceased by her brother Robert and his wife Margaret, brother Ralph and his wife Grace and sister Rose and her husband Tom.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 4 - 8 PM at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10 AM at her parish, the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
