Kenneth Carroll Obituary

Earl “Kenneth” Carroll, 85, passed away on October 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He lived in Cleveland, TN all of his life except for his time in the US Army. He was a devoted husband, supportive daddy, and an inspiring “Pa” to his five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Kenneth was born to George and Myrtle Carroll on March 18, 1935 in Polk County, TN. He served in the Army during the post Korean War and was stationed in Seoul for two years. He worked at Burlington Woolen Mill for twelve years and retired from Bendix (Allied Signal) after 34 years. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time outdoors. He walked three miles a day until he was 80 years old. He loved the challenge of fixing things and was always willing to help friends with items that needed some extra “TLC”. He is described as a humble, kind, and generous man by all that knew him. Kenneth was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Archie Carroll and Roy Carroll; sisters, Grace Lee, Virgie Ledford, Ann Brewer, and Vera Jo Carroll. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice Carroll; children, Debbie (Gwen) Shroyer and Kevin (Melody) Carroll; grandchildren, Cody (Haydin) Shroyer, Katie Shroyer, Chloe Shroyer, Savannah Carroll, Courtney Carroll; great-grandchildren, Ellie Shroyer and Parker Shroyer. He is survived by one sister, Mae Hensley, multiple nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends, Ronnie and Phyllis Wright. All of his survivors reside in Cleveland, TN. The visitation will be held on Monday, November 2nd from 4 – 7 at the Peerless Road Church. The funeral will begin at 7 o’clock with Pastor Adam Jones, Rev. David Riggs, and Rev. Ronnie Wright officiating. The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd at 11:00 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Please meet at the cemetery. Due to COVID-19, it is requested that everyone wear a mask for the protection of all guests and loved ones.
