Alice May Greene

Alice May Harford Greene, 85, died Sunday October 4, 2020 at Berlin Health and Rehab Center in Barre, VT after a long illness. She was born on July 30, 1935 in Hartland, VT the youngest daughter of Harry and Mabel (Reynolds) Harford. Alice graduated from Windsor High School in 1953. She worked for JJ Newberry and Dartmouth College before moving to New York for a short time. Alice was married to John “Bud” Greene on September 28, 1959. They enjoyed their home in Loudon, NH and the surrounding land, animals and gardens. They also liked visiting Maine for antiquing, boating, and the beaches. Alice loved working in her gardens and enjoyed finding new types of plants and coaxing them into bloom. She also continued her father’s tradition of being a dowser and surprised herself with the ability to find water using a stick. In 2013, Alice moved back to the family home in Windsor, VT. Alice worked for Jordan Milton Caterpillar in Hopkinton, NH and others before becoming a labor inspector for the State of New Hampshire. Alice took great pride in her work for the state. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Bud Greene, sisters, Margaret and Louise Harford, Maxine Wright, and brother, Herbert Harford (Pat) and nephews, Herbert Harford Jr., David Harford, Greg Harford and Bruce Wright. Alice is survived by her brother-in-law Harold Wright of White River Jct. VT and nieces and nephews, Dianne Waters (John) of Reading, VT, Karen Wheeler (Buzz) of Readsboro, VT, Ross Harford (Judy ) of Weathersfield, VT, Gail Wright, Harold Wright Jr., Richard Wright, Ann Cerasoli, and Donna Wright of White River Jct., VT, as well as many grandnephews and nieces. At Alice’s request, there will be no services. Alice and Bud’s ashes will be strewn together in their beloved Maine.
