Jeannine A Kleindel Obituary

Jeannine Ann Kleindel, age 87, passed away peacefully at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden on Wednesday October 28, 2020. Jeannine was born at home in Lynden on April 15, 1933 to Ted and Alice Bajema. She was the first niece born into the Bajema and Scholten families. Jeannine graduated from Lynden Christian High School in 1951. God had given Jeannine the gift of servanthood. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and later caregiving for family and friends. Many of her hobbies brought both joy and income such as painting, hanging wallpaper, and housekeeper/housesitting. Baking was a gift she genuinely enjoyed. When she baked chocolate chip cookies, she would have to bake 2 batches because the kids would eat one batch before she was done baking. Jeannine would always leave a note on the table whenever she ran to town, cookies in the jar and candy in the cupboard, help yourself. She would sign it G’ma, a name that all affectionately started calling her. Jeannine was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene. She resided in her home on East Front Street for 52 Years. Jeannine felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her 5 children alone as a single parent. She found great joy in spending time with all 13 grandchildren. She was a frequent traveler to Maui and many road trips to Montana. She with her Aunt Ann Enfield were nicknamed (Thelma and Louise) as they cherished many memorable road trips together. Also, she had a special bond with cousins and share many memories with each of them. Those that knew Jeannine knew her life was not always easy, but through her gentle spirit, sense of humor and trust in God, she would consider herself blessed beyond measure. Her faith in God may have been quiet but through her prayers they became powerful. Jeannine will be greatly missed by her children Kenneth, Donald (Ann), David (Yvonne), Mark (Dianna), and Marlae (John) Holtzheimer; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and siblings Bill “Dutch” (Patsy) Bajema of California, Marlene (Jay) DeGroot of Lynden. She is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Alice Bajema, and sisters Elaine Pasma and Marcia Broersma. A private graveside service will be held in Monumenta Cemetery on November 7, 2020. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
