Mark Henry Delong

Mark Henry Delong, age 57, lifetime Lapeer resident, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday October 28, 2020. He was born October 8, 1963 in Lapeer, to Floyd and Sandy (Hyde) Delong. Mark graduated in 1982 from Lapeer East High School and married Susan Patow on May 26, 1990 at Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer. Along with his father, Mark owned and operated Floyd Delong & Son Excavating here in Lapeer. Mr. and Mrs. Delong have been active and devoted members of Hunters Creek Community Church for many years. Prior to the Hunters Creek Church, they were longtime members of Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer. He loved his time with the Men’s Breakfast at church, Pastor DeKlerk did the devotional and Mark was the chief cook. For many years, Mr. Delong was a volunteer with the Lapeer Fire Department. Mark enjoyed life…he loved to cook, he loved his job, he loved his family, outdoor adventures, camping anywhere…especially at Covenant Hills Camp & Retreat in Otisville. Mark is survived by his wife: Sue Delong of Lapeer; sons: Mark (Kayla) Delong of Lapeer, Matthew (Sydney) Delong of Lapeer and Joshua (Fiancé Madison) Delong of Grand Rapids; beloved grandson: Micah Delong of Lapeer; parents: Floyd and Sandra Delong of Lapeer; sister: Patti (Mark) Vanderhoff of Columbiaville; and in-laws: William (Lorraine) Patow of Columbiaville. He was preceded in death by his step-father in-law: Bernie Malburg; his Grandpa & Grandma Delong and Grandpa & Grandma Hyde. Visitation will be 2-8PM Friday, October 30, 2020, at Hunters Creek Community Church, 2471 Metamora Rd., Lapeer, MI 48446 and 9-10AM Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the church prior to the funeral service. Mark’s funeral service will be 10AM Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Hunters Creek Community Church, Pastor Joel Caminiti officiating. Private burial will follow in Hunters Creek Cemetery for family only, immediately following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hunters Creek Community Church.
