Hector L. Chevrette Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Hector Louis Chevrette, 84 years, due to stroke, on Monday, October 26th, 2020 at St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 60 years to Aileen Chevrette (nee Maki) who will miss him terribly every single day. Loving father of Craig Chevrette (wife Connie) and Mark Chevrette. Adored Poppa of Olivia, Nicholas and Lexi. Dear son of Valeda and Louis, both predeceased. Dear brother of Rena Read, George (predeceased, wife Yolande), Irene Fielding (Rodney), Alfred (Diane), Denise Gross, Diane Trinque (Dave). Fun uncle to many nieces and nephews. Hector was known for his strong work ethic and boundless energy. He had a successful 33 year career at Inco as a bonus drift driller and was later employed at Redpath Mining, The Sudbury Neutrino Laboratory and STH Kontracting. With the help of great friends, Hector managed to build two homes while working full time. In his early years, leisure time was spent dancing at the Elks Lodge, hunting, fishing and bowling. Golf and curling were enjoyed later in life. Hector always enjoyed his time on Black Lake, much of it spent in a hot sauna, after working on one of his never ending projects. Hector displayed his love by showing up and helping others. He was a reliable man who used his great strength to assist anyone who needed it. Given his confidence, there was no task that Hector was afraid to tackle… sometimes without much forethought or planning. Always consistent in his behavior, he adhered to the motto “What you see, is what you get.” Thank you to Health Sciences North, Dr. Jonathan Ailon and the nursing staff at St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto for their great care and compassion. At Hector’s request, there will be no funeral visitation or service. He will be buried in Waters Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, The MS Society of Canada, ALS Society of Canada or a charity of your choice in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations or messages on condolence www.lougheeds.ca.
