Lonnie Coltrain, 70, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Eldon, died of Lewy Body Dementia at home on October 27, 2020 in Kansas City, MO surrounded by family. He was born February 21, 1950 in Ottumwa to Delmar Earl and Willa Mae Hatfield Coltrain. Lonnie was a 1968 graduate of Ottumwa High School. On August 28, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart, Pam Brown. After graduating from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1973, they returned to Ottumwa and Lonnie worked as a pharmacist at West End Drug. Later the store expanded and became Professional Medical, Option Care, Compounding Solutions and Card & Camera. Lonnie had a strong connection with his co-workers and customers, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Agency United Methodist Church and was active in numerous professional and community organizations. Lonnie spent his entire life in the Ottumwa area until 2016 when he moved to Kansas City to be closer to his kids and grandkids of whom he was very proud. His love of life, the outdoors and family was evident to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pam; their 3 children, Andrea (Doug) Behne of Smithville, MO, Jay (Becky) Coltrain of Lenexa, KS and Katie Coltrain of Kansas City, MO; 6 grandchildren, Owen, Brianne and Corinne Behne, Kiara, Eli and Gianna Coltrain; a sister, Linda (Eric) Anderson of Utah; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Mike and Terry Coltrain. Limited open visitation for friends will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 29th and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday October 30th at Reece Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rfh-ia.com. Private funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 30th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Kelly W. Peavey officiating. For those not able to attend the service, you may watch the service live from the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agency United Methodist Church or United Way of Wapello County.
