Micheal Maurantonio Obituary

Micheal Maurantonio, 95, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at a local assisted living facility. Mike was born in St. Paul, MN and raised in Vaughn, MT. He was the second of seven children to Tom and Lena Maurantonio. He attended local schools and graduated from Simms High School in 1942, Mike had a love of flying and anything to do with airplanes. He joined the Army Air Force in 1943 and became a pilot. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a flight instructor, air traffic controller, had a commercial pilot's license, and did some aerial crop spraying. Mike owned the Silver Spur Bar in Vaughn, and then worked for the county assessor’s office until retiring in 1986. During that time he was also a real estate broker. Besides aviation, Mike loved jazz music, photography, cruises, and his rose garden. Mike married Dolly Clarke and they later divorced. He married June Preston Nett and acquired three step-children. Together they had one son. After June's passing in 1994, he married Alma Hueth and welcomed another family into his heart. He is survived by step-sons, Terry (Norene) Nett and James Nett (Debbie); seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; along with the Hueth families. Mike was preceded in death by his wives, June and Alma; son, Tom; step-daughter, Barbara Nett Shumski; parents, Tom and Lena Maurantonio; sisters, Rose Dector, Kate Tabaracci, Grace Steffens, and Stella Maurantonio; and brothers, Joe and Nick Maurantonio. No service will be held due to COVID. Entombment will take place at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Memorials can be made to Peace Hospice or to the donor's choice.
