Peggy Joan Allen, 75 of Walnut Ridge went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Peggy was born June 28, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to the late Charles and Alma Dean Burgess. She was a homemaker and member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Magee; and great grandson Damian Abbott. Peggy is survived by her husband, Luther Allen; daughter, Pam Allen of Walnut Ridge; son, Robert Wayne Allen of Walnut Ridge; granddaughters, Courtney (William) Wilcoxson of Walnut Ridge, Jessica (Derek) Abbott of Bono, and Allison Allen of Walnut Ridge; one great grandson, Camden Wilcoxson of Walnut Ridge; two brothers, Gary (Leta) Burgess of Delaplaine and Dennis Burgess of Black Rock; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2020 from 1-2 PM at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church with a funeral service at 2 PM with Derek Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Lawrence Memorial Park under direction of McNabb Funeral Home. Pallbearers include: Derek Abbott, William Wilcoxson, Dewayne Barker, Mark Vanbrook, Danny Andrews, and Paul Gill. To follow the directives of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, masks covering the mouth and nose are required for all persons in Arkansas for all indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to non-household members where social distancing cannot be assured. Those attending will also be asked to sign a contact registry and maintain a social distance.
