Ronald Landry Obituary

On Wednesday October 28, 2020, Ronald Landry, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at his home in Plaistow, N.H. at the age of 81 after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was a well known and respected realtor in the Merrimack Valley. Ronald was born in Lawrence on October 4, 1939 to mother Lucille (Roberge) Landry and father Albert Landry. He grew up in Lawrence, attended Central Catholic High School, and served in the Coast Guard thereafter. Following his time in the service, he had a short-lived boxing career in the Merrimack Valley and won the New England Golden Gloves competition in the 135lb novice class in 1960 and the Massachusetts amateur boxing title that same year. He went on to work for Western Electric and received his associate degree from Merrimack College. From there, he began his long-time career at Realty World before opening Harvest of Homes with his business partner Joan McColgan. He served as the President of the Greater Lawrence Regional Board of Realtors and the Massachusetts Regional Vice President of the National Association of Realtors. He was married in 1962 to his wife Rosemarie and had two daughters that they raised in their first home in Lawrence. In 1987, he and his wife moved to North Andover where they lived and worked for over 30 years. He had many friends and his happy-go-lucky personality was beloved by all who knew him. He loved golf, so much so that he built a mini golf course in his backyard in North Andover, much to the delight of his grandchildren. He also loved to play and watch basketball—you could often find him at the YMCA shooting hoops and at Merrimack College watching the men’s and women’s teams play. He also enjoyed bowling and participated in various leagues with his friends and family. He always kept a positive outlook on life and lived by the adage “life is good.” He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemarie (Rotonnelli) Landry; his two daughters Cheryl (Landry) Gosselin and husband Bob Gosselin of Methuen, and Michelle Landry of Amesbury; five grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and her husband Carlos, Rebecca and her husband John, Cody, and Mason; three great grandchildren Caleb, Jacob, and Leon; his brother Raymond Landry of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronald’s name to St. Michael’s Church of North Andover and the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. Calling hours will be Saturday, October 31 from 9:30-11am at Conte Funeral Home, 17 3rd St. North Andover, followed by a mass at 11:30am at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover, and a private burial at 1pm in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
