Loretta Lee Maxey, 80, of Herrin, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Westside Care Center in West Frankfort. Loretta was a retired forklift driver for Allen Industries in Herrin. She also worked as a clerk at Hucks. Loretta was a member of Hurricane Memorial Baptist Church in Herrin. She was an avid bowler participating in the Herrin Senior League. Loretta was born February 27, 1940 in Herrin, Illinois to Hyman & Lucy Ann (Sizemore) Murphy. Loretta married Richard Don “Dick” Maxey on July 3, 1959 in Freeman Spur, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2018. She is survived by her son, Jeff R. Maxey and his wife Vanessa of Johnston City; son, John C. Maxey of Freeman Spur; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Keely Jo Maxey; and sister, Joyce Ann Fisher. Private graveside services will be at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Gee officiating.
