Gladys “Marie” Spicer age 83 of Bloomington, IL passed away at 1:50 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the home of her daughter Michelle Harris. Her private funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2020 at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. The service and visitation will be limited to 50 person and everyone is required to wear a mask. Rev. Danny McCubbins will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00 PM-3:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2020 at the memorial home. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Gladys was born October 15, 1937 in McLean County, IL the daughter of Guy and Mary Mahaffey Cherry. She married John D. Spicer on November 23, 1955 in Paxton, IL. He passed in 2005. Surviving are her 9 children, Connie (Michael) Williams, Normal, IL, Gail Buckles, Shelbyville, IL, John W. (Lori) Spicer, Bloomington, IL, Virginia (Greg) Adams, Normal, IL, Vickie (Courtney) Penn, Monmouth, IL, Lucy (Jack) Dodson, LeRoy, IL, Michael Spicer, Bloomington, IL, Kristy Spicer, Bloomington, IL, Michelle Harris, Bloomington IL, 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Buford (Marylee) Cherry, Stanford, IL, Timothy (Diane) Cherry, Lebanon, TN and 1 sister, Phyllis Cherry, Lebanon, TN, several close cousins and nieces and nephews. Gladys is preceded in death by both her parents and 1 son, Ronnie Spicer, Gladys had worked over 35 years in the health care industry. She was always caring for other people and Gladys always had children around her. She had a love for birds and flowers and spending most of her free time with family. She was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
