He was born at Lackey, KY on March 5, 1956 to David Smith Jr. and Jeanette Slone Smith Thacker. Survived by: Wife - Elaine Breeding Smith 5 Children - Trish (Coshel) Hall, Tanya (Brandon) Tackett, David (Diana) Smith, Tabitha (Brad) Bloomfield and Ira (Amanda) Smith 10 Grandchildren - Hayley Short, Layton Hall, Krysten Tackett, Haydon Tackett, Jackson Tackett, Braxton Banks, Shalyn Bloomfield, Brenley Bloomfield, Cameron Slone and Grayson Smith Grandchild on the way - Waylon Aster Smith 2 Sisters - Penny (Gary) Hall and Sherri Reardon Preceded in death by Parents - David Jr. Smith and Jeanette Slone Smith Thacker Son - Heath Douglas Breeding Sister - Ollie Handshoe Brothers - Birtchell Smith and Hiram Watts Friend - Larry K. Slone Funeral services for Aster Ray Smith will be held at Ivy Point Old Regular Baptist Church, Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 11:00AM with Mike Slone, Roy Slone and Eugene Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at the Aster Smith Cemetery at Garner, KY. Visitation will be held at the Ivy Point Old Reg. Bapt. Church, Thursday and Friday evenings after 6PM with additional services each evening at 7PM.
