Robert Hill Bates, 85, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Born on June 4, 1935, in Washington DC he was the son of the late Robert Hill Bates, Sr. and Emma Virginia (Brann) Bates.

He was the loving husband of Marlene Josephine Grebner Bates for 55 years.

He proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He retired from Litton Amecom as an Electrical Engineer for over 30 years.

He loved collecting guns and enjoyed being a member of the Masonic Lodge #149, recently receiving his 60 year pin.  

He is survived by sons,  Robert Eugene Bates and Roy Edward Bates and his wife, Kimberly Mae; grandchildren, Sarah Mae Bates, Justin Hill Bates and Pierce Mitchell Bates and we can't forget to mention his great grand puppies, Bailey, Bella, Blue, Malibu and Deliah.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 11:45 am on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Stauffer Funeral Home,  8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD. 21771. Masonic services will follow at 11:45 am and Celebration of Robert's life will begin at 12:00 p.m.  Rev. Tim May will officiate.
Interment will be at Meadowridge Memorial Park in  Elkridge, MD.
