Betty Marie Dorsey

October 5, 1930 – October 25, 2020 (age 90)

A former Danville Resident, Betty passed away in Pleasanton on September 25, 2020.

She was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 5, 1930 and grew up in ElDorado, Kansas.  She graduated from ElDorado High School in 1948 where she was active in Girl Scouts and Job’s Daughters.  She attended Oklahoma University from 1948 – 1952 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.  While at OU, she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.

She married Frank Dorsey in 1956 and worked for a time as an artist for advertising and training materials.  Once she had children, she transitioned to being a full-time homemaker, and was very involved in Girl and Cub Scouts, Sunday School, and League of Women Voters.  The family moved to California in 1978 where Betty discovered a life-long passion for golf.  She also enjoyed knitting, crafts, needlework, reading and puzzles.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church, San Ramon Golf Club and was a former member of the Diablo Country Club.

Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death, as well as her older sister, Barbara.  She is survived by her younger sister, June Douglass (husband, Scott) as well as her two children, Sheila (husband, Randy) and Kevin (wife, Crystal) and her 5 grandchildren.

Betty has requested that there be no service, but her immediate family will be holding a private memorial.
