Moises Romero Obituary

1957-2020 Moises Harold Romero “Moe” Died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at his home in Belen, New Mexico at the age of 62, one day before his 63rd birthday. Moises H. Romero was born October 29, 1957 in Albuquerque, NM, to Moises and Mary Romero. Valencia county lost a great father, brother, and friend on October 28th. Moe was a member of our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and loved God. He was well known for his charisma and kindness; Moe would always make the people around him laugh and was always there for those who needed help. He genuinely cared for people. Moe loved and dedicated his life to God, family and friends and treasured the fact that he knew he was surrounded by that same love. One of his greatest loves was that which he held for his daughter Alexis. Alexis is truly a “daddy’s girl”, he was her super-hero, her rock that always made everything alright. Moe loved and cherished time spent with William building or rebuilding their projects. Moe loved the time spent with his brothers and sisters. He treasured the time visiting his sisters, especially around the holidays when they would cook him tamales, red chile and biscochitos. They would sit, laugh, and talk for hours, this time together brought peace and pure happiness to his heart. Moe especially looked forward to his camping trips with Marty and Mary in the Jemez Mountains. Every year as summer was approaching, he would start remembering prior trips he took with them, he spoke fondly about these trips and the trips that were planned. Moe retired from the New Mexico Corrections Department after twenty-seven years where he made many close friends. Following his career in corrections Moe began new adventures in security for the Men’s Recovery Program, Belen High School, and at Facebook where once again he formed great friendships with those he worked alongside. Throughout these careers Moe ran his Business “Moe’s Garage” in the same building as Marty’s Muffler where he spent many hours with his cousin Phil Martinez not only working but always laughing, joking, and talking politics. Moe’s Garage was another place where he made friends in the community. Outside of work Moe always had hobbies and adventures. With help from friends and family, he built and raced his 1967 Camaro and began to restore his 1941 Chevy Coupe. Moe enjoyed the many hours he spent cruising his Harley. Riding the open road allowed him to find peace and solace. The friends he made that shared his love for riding were close to his heart and he spoke of them often. His adventures in this world may have ended, but his journey into eternal life has just begun. Moises is survived by his children Alexis, William, and their mother Jennifer and his other two other daughters Michelle and Monica. His siblings Martin and Mary Romero, Sophie and Robert Archibeque, Virginia and Ronnie Herrera, Dorothy Dow, and Pauline Martinez. As well as his longtime best-friend or as Moe always lovingly referred to him as, his brother James Montoya and his wife Annette. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Moises and Mary Romero His aunts and uncles, Lucy and Justo Lopez, Chana and Joe Mejia, and Ralph Armenta and his nephew Moises Herrera.
