He departed this life in peace on the morning of October 28, 2020.</p> <p>Robert was Educated in the Durham Public School System.</p> <p>On August 11, 1995 Robert was joined in matrimony with Kathy Suitt Roberts where they shared 33 years together.</p> <p>At an early age, Robert was employed by Harry Dixon Water and Sewer as an equipment operator. He later was a dedicated employee of The City of Durham as a Senior Heavy Equipment Operator where he retired after 19 years.</p> <p>Robert was known to be a hard worker. He also enjoyed spending time with family, landscaping, tinkering on cars and trucks, and watching his westerns.</p> <p>Robert was predeceased by his daughter Gloria Adams (Harold), and sisters Rosa Yates, Essie Yates, Bertha McDougald and Mary Yates.</p> <p>He leaves his legacy to be cherished by his children April Speed (William), Jasmine Brown, Reginald Yates (BHeeraw), Crystal Roberts, Robert Lewis (Jamie), Carl Lewis, Pamela Lewis, David Lewis, Bobby Lewis, Teresa Lewis, Jean Lewis (Blake), LaToya Lewis.
