Gene D. Autry, 76, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born Monday, November 22, 1943 in Millsfield, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Oulion Autry and the late Lorena Williams Autry. He was a retired superintendent for the Tennessee Department of Transportation..

Funeral services for Mr. Autry will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2020 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Perry Grills and Bro. Larry Ricketts. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Jill Autry Hopgood (Glenn) of Newbern, Tennessee and Patty Autry Odell (Chris) of Union City, Tennessee; two brothers, Darrell Autry (Linda) of Hornbeak, Tennessee and Larry Autry (Melissa) of Newbern, Tennessee; one sister, Cloie Caviness of Newbern, Tennessee and he was" PaPaw" to his six grandchildren, Scotty Odell, Tyler Odell (Krystal), Dakota Odell, Bryan Odell, Ryan Hopgood and Dylan Hopgood and one great-grand-daughter, Emma Kate Odell.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Carter Autry; two brothers, Gerald Lynn Autry and Freddie Autry and a son by choice, Randy Parnell.

Honoring Mr. Autry as pallbearers will be Ryan Hopgood, Dylan Hopgood, Joseph Autry, Michael Autry, Glenn Hopgood and Tyler Odell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dakota Odell, Bryan Odell, Chris Odell, Larry Autry and Darrell Autry.
